Upcoming Indian spinner, Mayank Dagar, has surprised one and all by surpassing the Yo-Yo fitness Test score of Indian skipper, Virat Kohli. Dagar reached a score of 19.3, breaking the score of 19 of the Indian captain in the Yo-Yo test.
Virat Kohli is widely regarded as one of the fittest players in the world, be it on the field in the fielding or the batting department. And with that being mentioned, it is incredible for the 21-year-old Dagar to break the record of the world no.1 ODI and Test batsman.
Mayank Dagar had been part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after he was picked by the Kings XI Punjab last season. However, the Delhi-born spinner did not get a chance to feature in the playing XI of the team which was led by another Indian spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin.
On the other hand, it is important to remind everyone of the fitness standards of the BCCI in the recent past. The introduction of the Yo-Yo test has set very strict fitness standards for players, with players having a score of 16.1 and above to feature in the Indian squad.
Fast bowler Mohammed Shami, batters Sanju Samson and Ambati Rayudu are examples of the strict fitness standards of the Indian team as they were left out of the team after failing to comply with those standards.
The 21-year-old Dagar took it to social media application, Instagram, to share his achievement of getting a 19. Yo-Yo fitness test score. Dagar is also the nephew of former Indian superstar, Virender Sehwag, and the spinner also participated in the 2016 U-19 World Cup.
Moreover, Dagar also plays for Himachal Pradesh in the domestic arena, and has played 11 first class, 10 List A and 13 T20 matches in his short career so far.
With such an impressive fitness test score, Mayank Dagar will be hoping to exploit his opportunities with the Indian team in the A squad as well.
