Veteran Pakistani all-rounder, Shahid Afridi, has played a dead bat to a fiery statement made by former Indian opener, Gautam Gambhir in the wake of the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir that took the lives of many.
This was among the deadliest terror attacks to take place in Jammu and Kashmir’s three decades of militancy. A suicide bomber, reported to be from the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) based in Pakistan rammed a vehicle full of explosive in a CRPF bus in the district of Pulwama. The attack killed at least 40 personnel, leaving many seriously injured.
The bus travelling on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in the town of Lethpora and was 30 km away from Srinagar before it was attacked. The entire India is in a state of grief while also being furious at the deadly attack. The entire nation is condemning the attack and paying homage to those brave souls that died.
Alongside the nation, the Indian cricketing world is also mourning the death of the personnel, which includes the names of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir.
Gautam Gambhir, however, took the extra step on twitter and explained that India should not hold peace talks with Pakistan anymore for obvious reasons and meet on the battlefield.
“Yes, let’s talk with the separatists. Yes, let’s talk with Pakistan. But this time conversation can’t be on the table, it has to be in a battle ground. Enough is enough. 18 CRPF personnel killed in IED blast on Srinagar-Jammu highway ,” the former left-handed batter wrote in his tweet.

Across the border, Shahid Afridi, who did not share a great relationship with Gautam Gambhir during his international career, was recently asked about the tweet by Gambhir. The former Pakistani legend is currently playing for the Multan Sultans in the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Following the match against defending champions Islamabad United on Saturday, the 38-year-old was about to board the team bus when one of the reporters questioned about Afridi’s opinion on the comments made by Gautam Gambhir.
In reply, Shahid Afridi looked puzzled and asked: “Kya huwa usko (what happened to him).” The Pakistani superstar then ignored the media as he boarded the Multan Sultans bus.
