Premier League giants, Manchester United, are reportedly leading the race for the signature of Real Madrid superstar, Marco Asensio.
The attacking midfielder is not having the best of seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu, and has been linked with moves away from the Spanish capital.
Spanish publication, Don Balon, earlier reported that the Los Blancos will be asking a massive fee of £105 million for the Spaniard, despite a dip in form for the 23-year-old this season. This shows that Marco Asensio is still widely regarded as one of the most talented youngsters in Europe.
On the other hand, Manchester United’s interest in him is obvious, considering the failure of their signing Alexis Sanchez. The Red Devils are thus in need of a replacement for the Chilean superstar, who has scored only 3 goals ever since joining United back in January last year.
Alexis Sanchez has looked out of sorts at the Old Trafford, even after the appointment of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Chilean seems to be the only player who has not improved under Solskjaer, and is likely to be replaced next summer.
Marco Asensio could come in as a brilliant replacement at the age of 23, as his prime years are yet to come. Don Balon’s reports also reveal that the Spaniard is willing to make his move away from the Spanish capital.
Don Balon also linked the 23-year-old with Manchester United’s arch-rivals, Liverpool, and if Asensio happens to leave the Santiago Bernabeu, it is highly likely that there will be a long list of suitors from the Premier League for him.
