According to Spanish news outlet AS, Real Madrid are keeping an eye on the Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic.
Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has failed to up the game in the last few seasons. Especially, in front of the goal, the former Lyon player has seen a drop in the number of goals over the course of his spell at the Spanish capital.
With Ronaldo leaving for Juventus in the summer, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale were asked to spearhead the attack, but Madrid’s record this season is telling a different story. As a result of which the Spanish giants are looking for a long term replacement for the 31-year old.
In the last few seasons, Real Madrid have been linked with the likes of Edison Cavani, Robert Lewandowski and Harry Kane. However, not a single deal took off. Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have put a big price tag on Cavani and Lewandowski respectively, which is way above Madrid’s offer.
On the other hand, Tottenham head Daniel Levy has made it clear that Harry Kane is not on sale. Consequently, Real Madrid have set their eyes on the 21-year old Luka Jovic.
The Serbian international is currently playing for Eintracht Frankfurt on loan from Benfica with an option to buy. The German club has the chance to get the services of the Serbian for a sum somewhere between €6 and €12 million.
The 21-year old has scored 18 goals in 25 games this season, 13 came in the Bundesliga while he struck the rest in Europa League. The Serbian international has been a big revelation this season and is able to turn the heads of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Real Madrid are looking for a major squad overhaul at the end of the season and Jovic is first of the few names who are expected to sign for Los Blancos.
