Real Madrid are planning to include James Rodriguez in a player plus cash deal to sign the Spurs superstar Christian Eriksen, according to the Spanish news outlet AS.
Real Madrid have failed to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo, who signed for Italian side Juventus in July last year. The Spanish giants made it worse by not signing a replacement for the club’s All Time Top Goalscorer.
The European Champions paid the price after of the departure of Ronaldo and manager Zinedine Zidane as Los Blancos failed to perform consistently. Despite reaching Quarter Finals in both Copa Del Rey and Champions League, the whites have failed to impress the board and the spectators.
With the departure of Ronaldo and most players surpassing their prime, the President Florentino Perez is considering total squad overhaul in the summer. The Los Blancos Boss is planning to cash in some of the current players to acquire future stars for a long term plan.
Over the past few months, Real Madrid have been linked with the likes of Eden Hazard, Christian Eriksen, Mauro Icardi and Eder Militao.
However, various reports claim that Perez has chosen Eriksen over the Belgian international Eden Hazard, who has publicly expressed his desire to join the Whites. In order to get the services of the Spurs playmaker, Perez is intending to offer James Rodriguez to the Premier League side, according to Spanish outlet AS.
James Rodriguez is currently on a two-year loan deal to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, which is set to expire in the upcoming summer. This has given Perez an opportunity to cash in the Colombian midfielder to sign Christian Eriksen.
Earlier, the Spurs attacking midfielder decided not to sign an extension, leaving the door open for other clubs. Eriksen’s current contract is set to expire in 2020. However, Tottenham has a chance of extending this for one more year.
According to various reports, Daniel Levy rates Eriksen at a price close to 120 million Euros. On the other hand, Perez wants offer 40 million Euros plus James Rodriguez for this deal to work.
