Real Madrid are trying to rub off the name of Cristiano Ronaldo from their history and the events in recent history supports the case, according to various sports media outlet.
Real Madrid made history by becoming the only player to be on the UEFA Team of the Year for 13 times. Real Madrid dominated the team of the year with Raphael Varane, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo and Luka Modric, all finding a place in it.
Following the announcement by UEFA, Real Madrid posted articles on various social media to congratulate Varane, Ramos, Modric and Marcelo. However, the Los Blancos decided to left Ronaldo out of this.
Despite playing a huge role in Real Madrid’s Champions league triumph last season, the Spanish giants decided not to mention his name anywhere. This is not the first time that Real Madrid did something to keep Ronaldo out of Madrid’s history.
Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably the greatest player ever to play for Real Madrid. During his long nine-year spell at Bernabéu the Portuguese managed to win loads of individual as well as collective trophies.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner won four of his Best Player of the year award playing for Real Madrid. The Portuguese also lead Los Blancos to four Champions League victory in last five years.
According to Forbes, Real Madrid were valued at 1.3 Billion before the arrival of Ronaldo. With Ronaldo in the squad, this value has increased to 4.09 Billion in last nine years, before the Portuguese joined the Italian side Juventus in the summer.
According to Daily Mail, despite Ronaldo leaving Manchester United a decade ago, the Premier League side still admire and follow him on social media. On the other hand, following the departure of the Portuguese in the summer, Real Madrid have unfollowed Ronaldo in Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
What surprises more is that the Greatest goalscorer in Real Madrid history does not feature in Real Madrid’s “Football History” and “Football Legends” sections. Also Ronaldo and his goals are constantly left out of Real Madrid’s TV.
“If they want to feature another player’s greatest moments and there are highlights of him scoring from Ronaldo’s assists or assisting a Ronaldo goal, then they will go looking for other highlights clip involving other players,” said Daily Mail’s Pete Jenson.
Most people believe that the reason behind Ronaldo’s absence in Madrid’s history is because of the President Florentino Perez. The two did not share good relationship in the last few years and Ronaldo admitted that Perez is the main reason for his exit from the Bernabéu.
