Real Madrid Boss Zinedine Zidane is keen on bringing Liverpool star to Santiago Bernabeu this summer, according to reports in Spain.
According to Spanish news outlet AS, Madrid boss has made Liverpool forward and Senegal international Sadio Mane his number one transfer target this summer.
Real Madrid are enduring a disastrous season as the Los Blancos are already out of UEFA Champions League after shocking Last-16 loss against Ajax. The Spanish giants have also been poor domestically as Real Madrid got knocked out by Barcelona in Copa Del Rey. In La Liga, the men in whites are 12 points behind the league leader Barcelona.
Following the sacking of Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari in a span of nine months, Real Madrid welcomed their former manager Zinedine Zidane, who despite leading Los Blancos to Champions League glory last season decided to take a break from managerial job.
However, the break didn’t last long as the Frenchman has once again taken the Real Madrid job. After the poor season, Real Madrid and Florentino Perez are desperate to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window.
According to the Spanish media outlet, Zidane has picked his number one target for the summer, the Liverpool winger Sadio Mane. Earlier, it was reported that the Senegalese was on the verge of joining Los Blancos, however, the move didn’t happen after Zidane’s resignation. Following which the Liverpool forward renewed his contract last November, which will keep him at the Merseyside club till 2023.
Mane has been one of the stand-out performers for Liverpool this season, with the Senegalese playing a pivotal role in the Red’s successful run in UEFA Champions League. The Merseyside club are top of the Premier League with 76 points, two points above reigning champions Manchester City who has played a game less than the Reds.
The 26-year old forward has scored 20 goals for the English side in all competitions, with 17 coming in the League. Liverpool inspired by Mane’s goals defeated Bayern Munich to qualify into the Quarter Finals of Champions League.
Following a spectacular individual season, the 26-year old might not want to change shirts in the summer. However, nothing is certain when it comes to transfer window.
